As previously mentioned on mmmdoughnuts.com, the donuts from the American Kitchen Doughnut van at the Queen Victoria Market are almost an institution. Apparently they sell out well before the afternoon.

Unfortunently I can't quite seem to see why. Don't get me wrong, they are quite nice, but as you can see in the photo, they are fairly unsubtle morsels, more suited to scoffing down after a cold day at the football than having for breakfast.

The balls come hot, fresh cooked and extremely oily. The dough is thick and buttery, the outer coating dusted with coarse sugar crystals. It was quite good with a coffee, but nothing to really write home about.

Most amazing donuts, but was very dissapointed too see that most of my donuts had no jam! they use to be filled with jam!
