After the disaster that was the Donut King Strawberry Jam Ball my jury was well and truly against Donut King. But this subtly flavoured custard filled offering has brought me back onside!

Golden Brown with a light dusting of icing sugar the doughnut looks fantastic. To the touch it's not in the same league as a fresh Dunkin Donut, but I could tell it was going to be soft. It didn't disapoint. To the bite, the outer retained some crispyness which contrasted oh-so-well to the soft dough inside. The dough was light, and not bready at all. The filling was a generous piping of custard which was smooth, and not overpoweringly sweet.


An excellent doughnut that I found hard to fault.
