This is a genuinely good chocolate jam doughnut, that has the potential to be the best doughnut in our search so far. At the excellent (and extremely popular) Kerrie Road Bakery in Glen Waverley, Victoria, our doughnut, made fresh that day was a soft golden ball of goodness covered with a generously gooey chocolate icing.
The dough was soft and chewy, but as the case with most bakery-produced doughtnuts, still a fraction cakey. It still needs a bit of lightening. The chewiness of the dough was complemented by an excellent chocolate icing that melted in your mouth. Top marks for that.
The jam was the fairly stock standard bakers jam that is found in this type of doughnut. Not as smooth as the Brumby's version. Overall I was extremely satisfied with this doughnut, the only downsides being the jam and the texture of the dough.
