Is this our first flight into "Doughnut Fusion"?

The Rocky Road is one of the two "Fair Dinkum" doughnuts in the Krispy Kreme Range...

I do enjoy the odd rocky road ice cream and indeed as a sweet. So that raises the question - could combining a sweet with a doughnut be called "doughnut fusion"?

In anycase I'm not sure whether it was pulled off here. Sure the doughnut looks great, but taste and texture wise I don't think it quite works. Unlike with a regular piece of rocky road, with the hard bits of chocolate, chewy jelly and soft marshmallow, with the doughnut everything is soft. There's no contrast, and the crushed nuts were not really nuts on closer inspection.

I would also say that instead of icing icing Krispy Kreme should look at using a real chocolate. This would mean that instead of a big sugar hit, we actually get hint of chocolate.

So our first flight into Doughnut Fusion wasn't quite a crash landing but this needs to be refined.
