Piraeus Blues Greek Doughnuts

Piraeus Blues Greek Doughnuts

Fried Gluey Goodness (with Honey and nuts)

LOCATION: 310 Brunswick St Fitzroy 3065 Victoria Australia

Piraeus Blue

PRICE: $7.50 AUD

Piraeus Blue is quite a well known restaurant on Brunswick Street in the Melbourne Suburb of Fitzroy. After a glorious greek meal, I was treated to a wonderful greek dessert.

Arriving stacked in a pyramid these small, golf ball sized balls of dough were delighfully golden brown. They were subtly drizzled with syrup and crushed walnuts. They smelt fantastic and had a wonderful crispy coating, but I was a fraction disapointed with the slighly wet, gluey texture inside. A drier, more airy texture would complement the syrup, nuts and Halva icecream perfectly.

Still it was pretty darn good!
