My second Royal Doughnuts experience was much, much better. You all know how much I love the apple cinnamon combination. Again it was teamed here, and with some work, this could be a really exceptional doughnut.



Large in size, and very well presented, but not in a traditional doughnut shape (looking more like a pie of some sort), I was hoping that this doughnut could compete with the Dunkin Doughnuts Apple. It can't but it's quite good anyway.



It comes with a delightful Krispy Kreme-like glaze. The dough is slightly disapointing - it's nice and soft, but fractionally gluey and has a slighly strange undertaste which I cannot put my finger on. The apple strudel in the middle is made from real apples - this is extremely impressive, however more points would be awarded for extra cinnamon.



In combination these flavours/textures work extremely well, and the doughnut receives good marks. No comparison to the Dunkin Donuts Apple version however.
