Doughnuts might never be the best dessert to finish a meal with. But if all doughnuts were like these french beignets, then they might take over. These were an absolute pleasure to review.

Four golden brown, golf ball sized pieces of dough arrive on your plate, lightly dusted with icing sugar. Truly mouth watering.

Cutting into the much-sought-after crispy skin you are met with a soft, light almost hollow centre - it's almost too hollow.

But then there is the taste. Absolutely superb. The crispy outer shell complements the soft, buttery (with a hint of banana?) magnificently.

Absolutely superb, and a pleasure to review. To the top of the pile!
