As regular mmmdoughnut.com readers might guess I am a big fan of the apple cinnamon flavour. It was a Sunday morning as I walked down to the Trianon bakery. To be honest I was looking for an apple scroll, but when the shop girl told me that the golden parcel of goodness I saw in the shopfront window was an apple doughnut, I couldn't resist.

Slightly warm, and with a light sugar dusting I was quite impressed. The outer coating was golden and slightly crispy, while the dough, while bready was nice and fluffy. The apple filling was excellent too, complementing the dough and crispy outer perfectly.

A high quality doughnut - perhaps more cinnamon in the filling and perhaps a slight dusting would raise this to a higher level.
